East County's Family-Friendly Hub
Brentwood is the largest city in east Contra Costa County, offering newer master-planned communities, excellent schools, The Streets of Brentwood shopping center, and a thriving restaurant scene along Balfour Road. Over the past two decades, Brentwood has transformed from agricultural land into one of the Bay Area's most desirable suburban communities.
Brentwood features primarily newer construction homes built from the 2000s through today. Popular neighborhoods include Deer Ridge, Bridle Gate, Palmilla, and the newer Vineyards at Brentwood. Home styles range from single-family tract homes to custom estates, with most featuring modern open floor plans, energy-efficient construction, and three-car garages standard.
Brentwood Union School District and Liberty Union High School District serve the community with highly-rated schools. Heritage High School and Liberty High School are the primary high schools, both offering strong academics and athletics. The area also has several private school options and is within commuting distance of Los Medanos College.
Most Brentwood residents commute to the greater Bay Area for work. Highway 4 provides the primary route west, connecting to BART at the Antioch station (about 20 minutes). The eBART extension has significantly improved commute options. Local employment includes retail, healthcare at Sutter Delta Medical Center, and the city's growing commercial sector.
